Temporary workers

If you are a company who have difficulty finding the workers you need in Quebec to recruit temporary foreign workers,  or if you are worker who has a job offer from a Canadian employer, you will need to obtain the necessary documentation and authorization for Quebec. There are steps that your employer must take and others that you have to take on your own.

These steps include the issuance of a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), a Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ) and the authorization letter from the Canadian embassy.

 We strongly advise you not to take any definitive steps (for example, leaving your job, taking out travel insurance, purchasing plane tickets, etc.) before you have obtained the necessary authorization to come and work in Quebec.
