Canadian Experience Class

The Canadian Experience Class falls  under the Express Entry System and is an immigration category for Canada’s temporary foreign workers who wish to become permanent residents after having obtained the necessary Canadian work permit and experience.

Requirements

Applicants under this category must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Have obtained at least one year of skilled, professional or technical work experience in Canada within 36 months of the application date;
  • Have at least Level 5 or Level 7 of the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB)  depending on the job level they aim at;
  • Plan to live and work outside of the province of Quebec (individuals with work experience in Quebec and who plan to reside in Quebec may apply to the Quebec Experience Class)

If you are a foreign student who have completed a program or a course of study at a Canadian educational institution, and was able to remain in Canada on Post-Graduate Work Permits you can apply under this program if you have obtained at least one year of full time skilled work experience, post-graduation, in a managerial job (NOC skill level 0), a professional job (NOC skill type A) or a technical job or skilled trades (NOC skill type B).

Applicants can remain in Canada throughout the application process. However, the Canadian Experience Class is also open to individuals who are no longer in Canada,
provided that they submit their application within three years of leaving their
job in Canada.

Note: Self-employment and work experience gained during internship does not count under this program.
