Super Visa for Parents and Grandparents
The Super Visa is a visit visa that Immigration Canada has created for Parents and Grandparents. This visa is valid for up to 10 years and allows the applicant to remain in Canada for up to 24 months at a time.
The Sponsor has to provide the following requirements:
a) Provide an invitation letter
b) Support financially the parents / grandparents in Canada. (Must be able to meet a minimum income threshold as set by the government)
c) Buy Canadian medical insurance coverage for at least one year for the parents / grandparents.
Parents / Grandparents have to:
a) be parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada,
b) be allowed to enter Canada and
c) meet certain other conditions:
- Complete an Immigration Medical Examination
- Be a genuine visitor who will leave by choice at the end of the visit.
- Have strong ties to the home country.
