Family Reunification

If you live in Quebec and you wish to sponsor a member of your family you should  satisfy certain requirements before starting a sponsorship or an undertaking process.

–  You can sponsor a close relative if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Quebec, you are at least 18 years of age and you satisfy the prerequisites.

– To be sponsored, your close relative must satisfy specific requirements and is member of your family of which:

  • your spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner
  • your dependent child
  • your father, mother, grandfather or grandmother
  • your orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece, grandson or granddaughter, who is under the age of 18, and not married or in a common-law relationship
  • a child you plan to adopt (international adoption).

– In undertaking the sponsorship process, both the sponsor and the sponsored must sign an undertaking towards the government of Quebec. The duration of  the sponsorship agreement (or undertaking) will vary depending on the family relationship between the sponsor and the person sponsored.

– You must also pay the fees for reviewing your application.
